This Privacy Policy describes how Whats4Dinner ("we," "our," or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Photos you take. When you use the ingredient scanning feature, your photo is transmitted to our servers for processing. We use the photo solely to identify food ingredients. Photos are processed in real time and are not stored, saved, or retained on our servers after processing is complete.

Preferences you set. Dietary restrictions, allergies, cuisine preferences, and serving size are stored locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers or shared with any third party.

Ingredient and recipe data. The list of ingredients identified from your photos and any recipes you save are stored locally on your device.

Purchase information. If you subscribe to our Pro plan, payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not collect, process, or store your payment information. We receive only a confirmation of your subscription status.

How We Use Your Information

• To identify ingredients from photos you take
• To generate recipe suggestions based on your ingredients and preferences
• To create meal plans tailored to your dietary needs
• To manage your subscription status

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

• Anthropic (Claude API) — processes your ingredient photos and generates recipe content. Photos are sent to Anthropic's servers for analysis and are subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models.
• Cloudflare Workers — hosts our backend server that routes requests between the app and Anthropic. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat — manages subscription status. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Data Storage and Security

Your preferences, saved recipes, grocery lists, and pantry data are stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. We do not maintain user accounts or store personal data on our servers.

Photos transmitted for ingredient scanning are sent over encrypted HTTPS connections and are not retained after processing.

Children's Privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Your Rights

Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing the app's storage in your device settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
